Endowment

Create Lasting Impact.

This year, the IDEA Promise Foundation will launch something new: an endowment built to support IDEA students and schools for generations to come.

College access sits at the center of this work. For us, that means eliminating the financial barriers that keep students from reaching and completing college. The endowment is designed to carry more than that, too, providing lasting support for campus programs, teacher development, and more across the full range of our mission.

A gift to the general endowed fund or to a donor-created endowment is invested rather than spent all at once. Each year, a portion of the fund’s earnings is distributed to support our students and schools, and the rest stays invested, so the fund keeps growing. A gift to an endowment made today supports IDEA students for generations.

We will launch the endowment in FY27, and the response ahead of launch has already been exciting. Ahead of our public launch, we have secured over $2.4 million in commitments from donors and founding partners who share our vision for lasting support of IDEA students and schools.
How It Works
  • Donors may establish a named endowment with a minimum investment of $10,000, creating a lasting source of support aligned with the donor’s philanthropic goals and the needs of IDEA students and schools.
  • Your gift becomes part of the endowment’s invested principal.
  • Each year, a percentage of the fund’s value (currently 4%) is distributed to support scholarships, campus programs, teacher development, and more.
  • The remaining earnings are reinvested to grow the fund and its impact over time.
  • The endowment is managed under the Foundation’s Investment Policy Statement and overseen by the IDEA Promise Foundation Board of Directors.
Ways to Give to the Endowment

General Endowment — supports the Foundation's greatest needs across all IDEA campuses.

Named Endowment Funds — donors can establish a fund named for themselves, a loved one, or a cause they care about.

Collin Sewell - Board Chair

Collin Sewell is a son, husband, father, leader, and entrepreneur. His responsibilities span from serving his family to leading a team of over 500. Collin finds his roots in two hardware store families in the late 1800s and early 1900s. In Western Oklahoma, they laid their claim to their own homestead during the Oklahoma Land Run. On his father’s side, Edward Franklin Sewell started selling Ford Model Ts from his hardware store in 1911.

As the Great Depression took its toll in 1929, E.F. loaded up his family and headed west for a new start. That new start landed them in Crane, Texas, just south of Odessa. In 1935, The Sewell family began their next chapter of the car business in Odessa, Texas. Brothers Woody and Carl Sewell purchased Sewell Ford in 1935.

Four generations and over one hundred years later, Collin Sewell is now the Proprietor of The Sewell Family of Companies, which includes:
